Alpine Urgent Care & Sports Medicine

At Alpine Urgent Care we strive to deliver excellence in care with each visit. We believe you don’t have to sacrifice quality for expediency. This belief can be seen in the look of our office and felt by the way each person is cared for. Your care starts at the front desk, with the friendly courteous service you deserve, and continues as you’re seen by one of our Board Certified physicians. You will experience the kind of personalized attention you would expect from your own family doctor. Our doctors treat each patient as an individual and take time to explain your medical problem and proposed treatment plan. After one visit you’ll know what we mean by “The Alpine Difference”.

Shane-Cummings

Shane Cummings, MD

Dr. Shane Cummings is a Fellowship trained Sports Physician, board certified in Family Medicine, who returned to Alaska after completing a two-year Sports Medicine fellowship at University Hospitals/Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.

Having attended a fellowship designed to include pediatric populations, Dr. Cummings has considerable experience dealing with a broad range of sports injuries, including those uniquely affecting adolescents and children. Dr. Cummings has extensive experience specifically in the practice of Urgent Care medicine, working almost exclusively in Sports Medicine and Urgent Care medicine since residency.

He has worked in a variety of clinical settings, from small one doc Alaskan towns to large teaching hospitals, and has served as faculty at University Hospital’s Urgent Care Fellowship, where he had the opportunity to train fellows in the practice of Urgent Care medicine.

He enjoys treating patients from all walks of life and activity levels, from non-athletes to adrenaline junkies. He believes that wellness comes from a healthy lifestyle, and he takes a holistic approach to the treatment of disease, with an emphasis away from pharmaceuticals, and strongly toward lifestyle modification.

Having met Dr. Davis during residency, Dr. Cummings feels fortunate to have such a good friend in his business partner, with whom he shares much in common, including their approach and philosophy when it comes to treatment of disease.

Darius-Davis

Darius Davis, MD

Dr. Darius Davis moved to Alaska in 2003. A Northern California native, Dr. Davis found that he enjoyed Michigan’s harsh winters during medical school, which prepared him to take a position at the Providence Family Medicine Residency Program in Anchorage. While there he and Dr. Shane Cummings became colleagues and friends.

Originally planning on returning to Berkeley to practice, he soon fell in love with our state and has been here ever since. He is board certified in Family Medicine and practices a program of total body health. Dr. Davis has a passion for education and community service, teaching health education at Anchorage area schools and church groups.

He also gives medical lectures for the University of Washington’s Medex Program. He has had training in eastern medical philosophy and acupuncture, and keeps an open mind when examining medical conditions. He believes in evaluating the whole person, not just the symptoms.

Dr. Davis believes in growth through learning and is committed to helping his patients be better advocates for their own health. Dr. Davis served as Assistant Medical Director for Primary Care at Southcentral Foundation before leaving to open Alpine Urgent Care.

Together with Dr. Cummings his goal is to deliver the highest quality, full service medical care available in Anchorage. Dr. Davis is an avid outdoorsman, enjoying Alaska’s vast array of wilderness activities.

What he enjoys most however is spending time with his lovely wife and two daughters, and their loving Border Collie.
